Mini soccer is our introduction to soccer program where the emphasis in on having fun while developing soccer and social skills. The Mini Soccer program is made up of two age groups, a U5 division and a U7 division. The Under 5 age group plays one night per week with an emphasis on introducing basic skills like ball control and passing. Skills are taught using fun games that balance soccer skills and social development. The Under 7 age group plays two nights per week with a focus on building basic soccer skills and developing an appreciation for the game. Game play is introduced in the U7 group but we do not keep score or maintain team standings so that the focus remains on skill development. Games are played without goalies to encourage player development. We maintain a high coach to player ratio to ensure that every player is receiving the attention they need. Most of our coaches at this level are also being introduced to soccer at the same time as their children and it is a great learning opportunity for players and parents.
Jerseys are provided for each player. Players must wear shin pads and we recommend that each player wear soccer shoes.
Players are assigned to the appropriate age group for their year of birth. Any request to play up or down in a different age category will be evaluated after the season has started and the player’s ability has been assessed by the club head coach.
